THE STUDY OF THE DESIRE FOR OPENING BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM IN HOTEL AND HOSPITALITY (CONTINUING PROGRAM), BANGKOK COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND TOURISM

Abstract

This independent research aimed to (1) study the demand for opening Technology Bachelor's Degree Program in Hotel Management (Continuation Program) at Bangkok College of Business Administration and Tourism, and (2) examine the readiness for opening a Technology Bachelor's Degree Program in Hotel Management (Continuation Program) at Bangkok College of Business Administration and Tourism.The target groups consisted of (1) human resources managers from 20 hotel establishments in Bangkok Metropolitan Area and surrounding provinces, with one person from each establishment, totaling 20 participants; (2) directors, deputy directors, heads of hotel academic departments, and teachers in hotel management programs at Bangkok College of Business Administration and Tourism, totaling 11 participants; and (3) students currently enrolled in Higher Vocational Certificate (Diploma) programs related to hotel and tourism management in Bangkok Metropolitan Area and surrounding provinces, totaling 100 participants. The independent research instruments included (1) questionnaires for students currently studying in Higher Vocational Certificate programs related to hotel and tourism management, (2) questionnaires for hotel business establishments, (3) interview forms for educational administrators, and (4) interview forms for department heads and teachers in hotel academic departments. Data analysis employed frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.The independent research findings revealed a consensus among all groups regarding the need to open the Technology Bachelor's Degree Program in Hotel Management (Continuation Program). Higher Vocational Certificate students demonstrated a high level of interest in pursuing undergraduate education, particularly in a 2-year continuation program. Hotel operators expressed the highest level of support for opening the program, especially regarding how this curriculum would help address the shortage of personnel in the hotel industry. Educational administrators, department heads, and teachers agreed with opening the program as it would provide opportunities for Higher Vocational Certificate graduates to directly pursue undergraduate studies in their professional field, aligning with the government's policy of producing skilled workforce through vocational education.

การค้นคว้าอิสระครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) ศึกษาความต้องการการเปิดหลักสูตรเทคโนโลยีบัณฑิตหรือสายปฏิบัติการ สาขาการโรงแรม (ต่อเนื่อง) วิทยาลัยบริหารธุรกิจและการท่องเที่ยวกรุงเทพ (2) ศึกษาสภาพความพร้อมการเปิดหลักสูตรเทคโนโลยีบัณฑิตหรือสายปฏิบัติการ สาขาการโรงแรม (ต่อเนื่อง) วิทยาลัยบริหารธุรกิจและการท่องเที่ยวกรุงเทพ กลุ่มเป้าหมาย คือ (1) ผู้จัดการฝ่ายบุคคลในสถานประกอบการโรงแรมในเขตกรุงเทพมหานครและปริมณฑล จำนวน 20 แห่ง ๆ ละ 1 คน รวมทั้งสิ้นจำนวน 20 คน (2) ผู้อำนวยการ รองผู้อำนวยการ หัวหน้าแผนกวิชาการโรงแรมและครูผู้สอนสาขาวิชาการโรงแรม วิทยาลัยบริหารธุรกิจและการท่องเที่ยวกรุงเทพ จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 11 คน (3) นักศึกษาที่กำลังศึกษาในระดับประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพชั้นสูง (ปวส.) สาขาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการโรงแรมและการท่องเที่ยว ในกรุงเทพมหานครและปริมณฑล จำนวน 100 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ ได้แก่ (1) แบบสอบถามสำหรับนักศึกษาที่กำลังศึกษาในระดับประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพชั้นสูง สาขาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการโรงแรมและการท่องเที่ยว (2) แบบสอบถามสำหรับสถานประกอบการด้านการโรงแรม (3) แบบสัมภาษณ์สำหรับผู้บริหารสถานศึกษา (4) แบบสัมภาษณ์สำหรับหัวหน้าแผนกและครูแผนกวิชาการโรงแรม การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้ความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ผลการค้นคว้าอิสระพบว่า มีความคิดเห็นสอดคล้องกันว่ามีความต้องการให้เปิดหลักสูตรเทคโนโลยีบัณฑิตหรือสายปฏิบัติการ สาขาการโรงแรม (ต่อเนื่อง) โดยนักศึกษาระดับ ปวส. มีความต้องการในการศึกษาต่อระดับปริญญาตรีในระดับมาก โดยเฉพาะต้องการศึกษาต่อในหลักสูตรที่ใช้ระยะเวลาเรียน 2 ปี (ต่อเนื่อง) ผู้ประกอบการโรงแรมมีความคิดเห็นต่อการเปิดหลักสูตรในระดับมากที่สุด โดยเฉพาะประเด็นที่หลักสูตรนี้จะช่วยแก้ปัญหาการขาดแคลนบุคลากรในอุตสาหกรรมการโรงแรม และผู้บริหารสถานศึกษา หัวหน้าแผนกและครูเห็นด้วยกับการเปิดหลักสูตร เนื่องจากจะเป็นการเปิดโอกาสให้นักศึกษาที่จบระดับ ปวส. สามารถศึกษาต่อในระดับปริญญาตรีได้โดยตรงในสายวิชาชีพเดิม และสอดคล้องกับนโยบายของรัฐบาลในการผลิตกำลังคนสายอาชีวศึกษา
